MA FASHION Annie is a London-based fashion designer For her, fashion design is more than a professional discipline; it is the field she has wanted to devote herself to since childhood. She chose fashion out of genuine love, and even through setbacks, she continues to pursue it because creating garments brings her joy and keeps her passion alive. Her interest in clothing extends beyond appearance. She is drawn to the way garments relate to the body, influence posture and movement, and carry feelings that are difficult to express directly. She wants each piece to contain a meaningful question or central idea that can resonate deeply, rather than existing only as a surface visual effect. Through research, image-making, experimentation, pattern cutting, draping and detailed refinement, she continually searches for a meaningful relationship between concept and form. Annie aims to create garments that have a visual, physical and emotional impact. A work may first attract the viewer through its silhouette, materials and image, but further looking or wearing should reveal a changing relationship between the body and the garment. She translates abstract ideas and complex psychological experiences into structures, materials and movement, allowing the work to be not only seen but physically felt, while leaving a lasting impression. Her current MA project, The Self Enters the Game, begins with a philosophical inquiry into the relationship between the individual, rules and the body. It asks whether the body, aware that it is both an agent and part of a structure, can still enter it actively and find possibilities for change from within its constraints. Through deconstructing, reconfiguring and displacing darts, she turns garment construction into a system activated and transformed by bodily movement. Annie’s practice combines experimental pattern cutting, draping, heat-dissolvable mesh, soluble interlining and boning. Through continued research and making, she aims to develop a clear, independent and distinctive design language, creating work with depth, physicality and emotional force.
