This collection is a personal exploration of the designer's mother's Sicilian heritage and its influence on her own sense of identity. Having been born and raised in the UK, she has often felt a distance from the culture and traditions that have shaped her family's history. This prompted her to question how her life and perspective might have been different had her parents remained in Sicily. The project became a way of reconnecting with her roots and rediscovering a part of herself that had gradually faded over time. Through research into Sicilian history, culture, religious traditions, art, and symbolic motifs, she developed a collection that reflects the richness of her heritage while exploring themes of memory, belonging, and identity. The body of work weaves together these cultural influences with a contemporary design approach specialising in drapery and textiles techniques, creating a personal narrative that honours the past while speaking to the present.
