My debut collection, We Build a Truck II, focuses on the digestion of my own experience of being a teenager in the Moscow suburbs. The collection speaks to that specific inner fracture of adolescence—wanting to fit in, needing institutions to feel stable, yet refusing to fully participate in something you do not believe in. Through the language of uniforms and exploration of our own ways to wear those unifroms the collection reflect this teenage maximalisitc contradiction. My practice is centered on archetype research. I am not interested in inventing a fully superficial reality; instead, I investigate what can be considered believable. I believe that a deep understanding of ordinariness can generate something radically new—yet still strangely familiar. In a sense, I produce bootleg copies of people, timestamps, and particular experiences from my own life. These bootlegs preserve recognisability and emotional attachment, but they never operate as one-to-one replicas. Their alterations are designed to amplify the connections already embedded within the original—making the familiar feel newly charged.
