Steven Liang is a London-based menswear designer graduting MA in Menswear at the University of Westminster. Originally from China, he entered fashion through an unconventional route, bringing an independent perspective that values instinct, experimentation and personal expression over fixed design rules. His graduate collection explores whether making itself can become the concept. Rather than beginning with a predetermined narrative, the project develops through intuition, curiosity and material exploration. Tattooed Transparent leather, felting leather, and traditional tailoring are combined in unexpected ways, creating garments that blur the boundaries between masculinity and vulnerability, luxury and everyday dress. Familiar pieces are reconstructed through layering, altered proportions and hybrid construction to create clothing that feels both recognisable and unfamiliar. Steven’s practice is driven by experimentation and a belief that authenticity comes from trusting instinct rather than following convention. His work challenges established ideas of menswear while remaining rooted in craftsmanship and construction. Through contradiction, playfulness and material innovation, he aims to create garments that encourage new ways of seeing and wearing clothing.
