Yuxin is a fashion designer whose practice explores the relationship between male identity, clothing, and the body through contemporary approaches to menswear. Her work investigates how garments reshape the perception of the male body and influence the construction of identity through proportion, silhouette, and material exploration. Inspired by Asian male nightlife culture and Hedi Slimane’s slender menswear aesthetics of the 1990s, Yuxin’s collection develops a dialogue between traditional tailoring and unfamiliar expressions of masculinity. Focusing on close-fitting tailored menswear , her work explores how precise construction, sculpted waistlines, and refined proportions can reshape the male figure. The collection emphasizes the relationship between the body and suit, creating silhouettes that exist between restraint, desire, and performance. Yuxin’s practice also examines how traditional menswear codes can be transformed through structural and material experimentation. The collection incorporates reconstructed suit forms, adjustable necktie systems, layered black sheer tights, open-mesh tights, and reflective Lurex fabrics. Through transparency, layering, and changes in proportion, these elements explore the tension between concealment and exposure while challenging conventional perceptions of the male body. Through tailoring, structural intervention, and material exploration, Yuxin considers clothing as a space where identity, performance, and the body continuously interact.
