Location: Rochester, United Kingdom

Grace Webber is a menswear designer and pattern cutter who explores modern masculinity. Grace’s collection, LAX to Lamezia, links together influences of her family from Italy throughout the 70s/ 80s and research into David Hockney’s swimming pool artwork created in LA. The style of Grace’s Great-Grandad has inspired traditional tailoring aspects of design developments with references to the film ‘Call me by your name’ and photography by Charles H Traub. The Hockney artworks ‘Pool with two figures’ and ‘Peter Schlesinger with Polaroid Camera’ have influenced the colour palette and fabrics used mixture with contrasting darker, more tonal colours from her Great-Grandparent’s style. Grace has created a narrative of a man traveling from the office to Italy on holiday, carrying clothes in a suitcase creating creases and ripples in the clothing, also relating to water distortion from Hockney paintings with references to 90’s airport photos to create a trans-seasonal wardrobe.
