Fear Of The Unknown

My collection ‘The Fear of the Unknown’ explores outerwear and is based on how the next phase of our lives is unknown and unscripted. I started each look with the hoods and collars looking at how I could craft these details and build my silhouettes around them. I researched the wonders of the world, and the magnificence of their creation. I investigated the undiscovered aspects of space and sea, looking at historic astronaut and diving suits, which inspired my details and silhouettes. I am fascinated by Astronaut’s suit layers and the technologies involved - key for survival in space. I took inspiration from the layering and hidden details and used it in my zip down hidden pocket and hood detailing, using hot taping and profile stitching manipulating my fabric surface and introducing new fabric compositions. My research into space showed me the wonders of the world from orbit, and I created my print story from this new viewpoint.
