The Divine Feminine Messenger

My aim is fantasy and physical comfort, creating bold silhouettes in natural or reinvented unwanted fabrics. I design for creative free spirits, my muses are my friends with their strong feminine energy, creativity, and playfulness. I consider my work to be seasonless, genderless, slow fashion. Inspired by the divine feminine, I centred my muse around the elusive figure and narrative of Mary Magdalene. A story convoluted by the threat of a strong woman as a central figure in a patriarchal religion. Exploring her depiction in history and art, of a sinner, saint and as ‘Hairy Mary’, representing both the divinity and shame projected onto women. I wanted to embody my concept through my design practice creating a sense of nostalgia, wonder and conveying the relationship we have to the feminine as well as the maternal. For some garments I used yellow silk reinventing it from my mum’s old curtains. I believe people will treasure garments if unique with an attachment of emotional value.
