My work is inspired by a love of authenticity, and a desire to be wearable. I strive to design and produce garments that individuals can really appreciate and ultimately, imagine themselves wearing. I aim to create unique pieces, whilst maintaining a consistent style throughout that also reflects me, as a designer. Coming from a Northern, industrial town I enjoy taking inspiration from varying cultures, traditions and often find myself being drawn to concepts inspired by history. I aim to delve thoroughly into such concepts, both acknowledging their importance and also celebrating them. This is where the idea for my final major project came from, using Northern, working class culture to inspire my work visually and conceptually. I wanted to explore the importance of identity through a narrative focused on three main areas inspired by my hometown, that also draw on the importance of components such as community, class and self expression.
