Sustainability is a huge part of my design ethos, researching alternative materials and processes that can reduce waste and my carbon footprint. Taking inspiration from existing clothing allows me to celebrate the garment’s heritage and push boundaries in designing. Designing unisex collections allows me to challenge traditions and create timeless, innovative clothing for a larger consumer market. The pandemic dramatically affected the lives of the population and highlighted a need for change. The fashion industry has taken a hard hit, and the need for sustainability and change is even more prevalent. Mending, upcycling, and giving existing products a new life feeds into this cyclical fashion economy. Inspired by the coastline; the heritage of small seaside communities’ make-do and mend philosophy has influenced the repurposing of fabrics throughout the collection. My collection echoes the drive to preserve these beautiful landscapes while reducing waste within the fashion industry.
