Do it yourself, it's all an illusion anyway

My collection focuses on the juxtaposition of society. The concept that the world is just an illusion and it’s up to the individual to decide what their version of the truth is. Combined with bold psychedelic colours to produce a fun and energetic outcome to celebrate the female body as an art piece rather than something to be covered up. When investigating society, I researched alter egos, contrasts, and hidden truths to form my visual concept. I delved into historical stories like Medusa and Persephone. I was fascinated by their conflicting tales of power and vulnerability. From here, I found similarities with modern women like Marilyn Monroe that highlighted their discriminations partnered with soft feminine energy. This led me to looking at the female form in sculpture where I took inspiration with drapery, silhouette, and appearing weightless.
