X MARKS THE SPOT

Exequiel Enaje was born in the Philippines, Manila, on the 14th of September 1998. At the age of 6 X and his brother Enoc, who was at the time 7 years old, embarked on a transformational journey from their motherland to London - A place only a select few would get a chance to visit in real life. Though the two young boys had never been trained to speak English, Exequiel was contrived into the Western education system and separated from his brother. Alone, alienated and split apart from his older sibling. He was forced to find creative ways of communicating with his classmates. This created a raw, emotive and childlike visual handwriting for Exequiel Enaje. Inevitably, being exposed from a young age to London’s abundant culture, the boy's appetite grew. Transitioning from 2D to 3D X, takes inspiration from his “brown skin and white mind,” bridges the gap between street and tailored to coin the term “street smart.”
