The hedonistic, playful artistry of the 1920’s and the Bauhaus movement are major inspirations for designer Hannah Salmon’s process. Translating smooth, bulbous shapes and steady lines derived from Bauhaus compositions, Hannah creates soft fabrications through intricate machine knitting, layering texture to achieve complex pieces. Utilising many techniques including felting processes, ambitious pattern-cutting and bands of strong colour, the designer works instinctively and organically, opposing modern mass production. NAHNAH celebrates the simplicity, elegance and integrity of early commercial knitwear, with natural fibres, fully-fashioned knits and custom-made trims. Aiming for an inherent integrity and honesty, Hannah upholds the Bauhaus ethos.
