Darting Hither

Recalling the communities of my hometown in the North of England, Darting Hither compiles influences from an industrial past. Steel workers and retired cyclists meet to draw parallels between economic stagnation and cycling garments stuck in motion. Darting Hither occupies a liminal space between the practical and the alluring, and merges influences from both workwear and sportswear. Working within the boundaries of deadstock material, a contrast of fabrics has created a visual identity that is carried throughout the collection. Using archive imagery, I explored clothing in motion with the aim of capturing dynamic movement in static garments.
