UNTAILORED

UNTAILORED is a womenswear collection created for today's modern city woman. Created by a Latvian designer, the collection has a European feel. Initially inspired by series of self captured photos documenting the process of taking apart a tailored jacket, the col­lection is influenced by masculine tailoring and with an emphasis on deconstruction. Latvia is where I spent most of my life. Growing up in an environment where not many things were financially attainable, new clothes from expensive shops were never part of my life. I often watched my grandmother create garments for me using her old ones and to shop we would visit second hand shops. As a child, I was embarrassed by this and dreamed of new clothes like the other kids had. Now, I decided to bring this mentality of repurposing into my collection. Fashion system is due a change and, hopefully, my clothing can be an example for other people to shop second hand or create newness from the items they already own.
