How To Live Together

I am interested in using tailoring techniques and craftmanship to create quality pieces that will be treasured. Interning with a womenswear tailor on my placement year pushed my skills forward to be able to create my graduate collection. I have explored how we can connect more with nature in our everyday through our surroundings; through biophilic design. Looking at the Light and Space Movement and sculptural and kinetic artists have inspired my silhouettes. I have created a fusion of structured pieces and unstructured pieces, including adjustable and draped garments that reflect man-made and natural structures. My Grandma has also been a large inspiration for this project. She grew up in Germany in WWII, the oldest of 8 children. Repair was essential and that has stuck with her throughout her lifetime. She repurposes items and therefore, extends their lifespans. She has also made her own clothes that have been used as inspiration for details throughout my collection.
