The concept for my Project is based on the basic ethos of zero waste fashion design as a whole. Data shows that the average fabric wastage created through designing conventional garments is approximately 15 per ¬cent, but not only that, post production waste aka, consumer waste is also a big problem for the industry and I want to use the platform of fashion design to make a stand against this worrying trend. After sorting through the various techniques of zero waste designing, I started extracting direct inspiration from what I’ve seen around me. The geometric shapes all around us, from ancient builds to modern technology, all helped in realising how shapes build the world around us and can also be used to create a collection that uses these simple forms to create fuss free and no waste garments. . In particular I’m interested in making minimal zero waste designs, simple in creation and simple for the consumer.
