Alex Garaffa is a knitwear designer who creates with surrealist principles, making textiles and sculptures through unconscious collages of fabric and samples. Her current work explores the disruption of the female silhouette and challenges the male gaze by building outwards with padding and knitting that fills the natural negative space, rendering the body straight and column-like. Working always with a sustainably minded practice, Alex uses dead stock, organic or recycled yarn.
