My inspiration stems from commitments to practising ballet and an interest in abstract art’s recording of colour. Combining these contrasting forms of human expression demonstrates the multitude of ways humans use and value the creative industries. Seemingly effortless bodily movements by dance pioneer Loie Fuller capture organic shapes, leading to voluminous silhouettes which have heightened impact upon movement. The physical construction of the pointe shoe leads reference to the use of lightweight materials, along with sheering and embroidery darning details.
