Music and the intrinsic link it holds with style and identity is an area of research I often return to during my design process. Print, pattern and surface design, similarly to music is another element which motivates my work, allowing me to contextualise and elaborate upon concepts within my design that reinforce and support silhouette. “Women In-between” explores the evolution of women's style, presence and influence in alternative music cultures throughout the late 20th century. Recognising that despite the range in different music genres which also transpired as different fashion styles and trends; there was always an undercurrent of sophisticated and intelligent subversion expressed through individual style and nostalgic garments.
