A Long Shadow

The collection is about destruction and reconstruction. Initially inspired by my time spent on Noirmoutier, a French island. The islands landscape is made up of a pebble beach which has old derelict bunkers from the Second War. These became the starting point of the collection which focused on Western Wars of the 1900s. Women’s role within society at this time was key and the elegant and iconic actress Marlene Dietrich became the contrasting muse. She experimented with gender and dressed as a man, whilst playing with femininity. Creating mystery and sex appeal, an air of detachment but always with confidence. The collection A Long Shadow, is intended for a strong, feminine, dominant, masculine and independent woman. She is powerful and versatile, experimental, and always challenging the notion of femininity. A LONG SHADOW
