The title of my collection ‘L-218’ is inspired by the name of Eileen Gray’s modernist villa ‘E-1027’ in France. The code in this name stands for letter numbers in the alphabet and represents Eileen’s and her partner’s initials. To make this interesting name creation personal to me and my project, I developed the name ‘L-218’, which stands for ‘LuH’. This collection title not only draws attention to the modernist villa and the era of interior and furniture design that I got inspired by, it also represents myself and the influence of my own interests and aesthetic that shape the collection. This modernist focused project is determined by minimalism, which is recognisable through smooth, clean shapes and less details. The simplistic feel of my design work is accommodating the concept very well.
