Greek-Austrian Marios Schwab first launched his label in London in 2005.
“Personally, I like the risk of creating something and making it successful…this is what a creator should be…challenging himself to create something that people want to observe and learn more about. It’ s not just fashion, it’s also an object that they want to invest in and own, have, look at” - Marios Schwab (Business Of Fashion).
Marios Schwab is a name synonymous with an innovative and theoretical design aesthetic associated with body conscious design. Schwab’s early enrolment at the prestigious Austrian Annahof School has proven to be a key cornerstone of his brand DNA, a profound knowledge of classical tailoring and technical construction has allowed him to create a faithful following amongst women who value graceful, clean lines, luxurious materials and expert detailing.
Schwab moved later to Berlin to join the ESMOD University graduating with distinction. From there, he completed an MA in Womenswear at London’s Central Saint Martins under the renowned tutor Louise Wilson.
After only three seasons showing at London Fashion East, Schwab won ‘New Designer of the Year’ at the British Fashion Awards in 2006 and later went on to receive the Swiss Textiles Award in 2007. Schwab’s London Fashion Week on schedule debut came in Spring/Summer 2007 to critical acclaim. In 2009, Schwab was appointed Creative Director of the iconic American label Halston and for three seasons oversaw collections that Vogue described as a “match made in heaven”.
The Marios Schwab label has built strong relationships with many high profile red carpet stars alongside leading figures in the fashion press and wider industry. Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively, Marianne Cotillard and Amanda Seyfried and to name a few have repeatedly adorned themselves with his unique, directional take on evening wear.
2013 saw the launch of the Marios Schwab lingerie line ‘Kallisti’ a natural progression for the designer who uses the body as a canvas from which designing begins. Schwab’s creations explore meticulously the female form and ‘Kallisiti’ lingerie develops this core DNA, producing contemporary lingerie collections with strong links to the RTW line.
Marios Schwab continues to present his RTW collection at London Fashion Week seasonally and has increased his global presence by taking his catwalk shows to New York, Hong Kong, Moscow and Singapore amongst other International cities. Through arts, music and his surroundings Schwab finds diverse sources of inspiration for his continued success. Season after season delivering to the runway a design aesthetic that is not only cutting edge but steeped in respect for traditional craftsmanship and innovative technological advancement.
