Coding Of Order - Autumn/Winter 25

My graduate collection explores the tension between inherited cultural narratives and the impact of industrial systems on human experience. Rooted in the epic Bumba from my hometown—a surreal utopia passed down by my grandmother—this project reflects my emotional ties to oral tradition, family, and a sense of place. It also mirrors my evolving relationship with identity as I navigate between the past and the future, tradition and transformation. In contrast, my visit to the MYB lace factory in Scotland revealed another world—one shaped by mechanization, repetition, and the often-invisible labor of women. This led to two parallel textile explorations: one focused on developing a modular fabric structure inspired by the encoded systems of lace machinery, and another combining laser-cut textiles with wet-felted wool and lace. These materials create a dialogue between precision and instinct, structure and emotion, expressing my ongoing investigation into women’s labor, cultural hybridity, and identity formation.
