Inspired by Bauman’s concept of mobile modernity and urban interventions like the ‘Fluid Borders’ in my hometown—concrete spikes under overpasses to deter the homeless—this collection explores how spatial design reflects power, control and exclusion. Public space is not neutral; as Lefebvre argues in The Production of Space, it is shaped by political and ideological forces. By observing how people navigate cities and how clothing reveals and conceals identity, I examine how urban structures regulate both bodies and behaviours. This collection deconstructs symbols of power such as suits, overalls and jumpsuits by elongating panels, inserting and overlapping them, creating garments that express spatial dislocation and the multidimensionality of urban experience. The prints derive from primary research (photos of traffic signs, barricades, maps…) and secondary sources (images of rice paddies shaped by human planning). The colour palette borrows from the city’s warning system: orange (construction), black-yellow (scaffolding), red (prohibition) and green (permission). I printed and positioned patterns in transitional public spaces to emphasise spatial conflict through optical dislocation. Laser cutting adds layered structure, enhancing depth and fragmentation. In “Fluid Boundary”, clothing becomes a form of mobile architecture, both shaped by and resisting spatial constraints, transforming garments into sites where identity, power and space intersect.
