Fascinated by the cosmos and a rapidly evolving world shaped by technology, designer Xiwen Zhang presents a striking womenswear collection that merges science fiction with personal memory. Inspired by childhood visits to science museums, meteor showers, and the poetic imagery of the moon, the collection blends nostalgia with futuristic vision. Referencing the clean, minimal silhouettes of 1960s fashion and design, Xiwen explores sculptural simplicity with a modern edge. Neoprene forms bold, structured garments reminiscent of retro sci-fi curves, while crepe is used for softly draped dresses that suggest quiet movement. Faux leather is cut into strips to create dimensional, textural elements—most notably on a dramatic cape. Circles and curves are recurring shapes throughout, appearing in both the silhouette and embellishment. Oversized, bespoke sequins are printed and paired with shiny studs to create a dazzling, otherworldly effect. A palette of dark navy, blue-grey, and white gives the collection a sense of drama, depth, and celestial calm. It captures the essence of space while grounding the garments in emotional resonance. This collection explores the tension between the past and the future, softness and structure, reality and imagination—creating a bold vision for the modern woman shaped by memory and driven by wonder.
