Emma Istvánffy

Location: London, United Kingdom
University/College: University of Westminster Specialisms: Womenswear, Menswear, Textiles, Print, Embroidery, Leather, CreativeCutting
Emma Istvánffy is a Womenswear and Menswear designer with a strong interest in print and textiles, as well as creative pattern cutting. Her designs are often influenced by her Hungarian heritage: folk costume, traditions, art and music, and this appears in her work both visually and conceptually. Emma interned for Maison Margiela during her internship year, which inspired her to put a stronger emphasis on storytelling in her collections and to experiment more in 3D. She likes to work with a wide range of techniques, from different fabric manipulations to 3D printing or laser cutting. She often mixes traditional and modern techniques in her work. In consideration of sustainable design practises, Emma’s BA final collection was almost entirely made out of second-hand and recycled materials sourced from a local recycling center and donated by fashion companies.
