Tailoring for The Modern Empowered Woman

My design philosophy is centred around slow fashion and reinventing timeless classics to create innovative garments, incorporating ageless characteristics, and favouring style over fast fashion fads. I recently visited Savile Row and learned something that resonated with me – a garment can be tailored to someone’s lifestyle, not just their body. I wanted to incorporate this into my collection so designed it for a consumer who may have lost their confidence and sense of self. It offers choice and versatility, with garments that can be styled and worn in different ways to offer both modesty and sexiness. I was inspired by the juxtaposition between lingerie and tailoring. I loved Helmut Newton’s photography and how he captured beautiful, powerful women in tailored outfits worn with lingerie. I challenged myself to learn the basic principles of traditional tailored garments so I could deconstruct and reconstruct elements to create something new.
