Love From Home is a reflection on how my home has influenced me as the person I am today and how the spaces we inhabit can provide us with such a deep sense of security. This collection has a thread of nostalgia that runs through it which I hope people can relate to in their own way. The project has served as a vessel for me to journey through the past lives of the people that lived in the walls I call my home. My research explores 20th century British home life, family photographs and sourced pieces – all of which were from a time where people were more resourceful and industrious. Walking into my grandmother’s home, for which this project was inspired by, is as if life has stood still around those four walls for decades - the décor untouched since my dad was a boy, the chopped firewood left where my grandpa stored them so many years ago and rickety counters with handwritten labelled neatly packed.
