The Chronicles of A Bola (Waste) Girl

Joyce Addai-Davis, since 2015, exclusively wears self-made or upcycled clothing due to concerns about the environmental impact of fast fashion. During her MA studies at the Royal College of Art, she focused on reclaiming waste and creating purposeful fashion without virgin materials. Exploring demodulation, consumer behavior analysis, and digital design, her work aims to combat waste colonialism. Inspired by Ghanaian warrior Yaa Asantewaa, Joyce seeks to beautify waste and make it desirable while raising awareness about landfill waste in developing countries.
