‘Rocaille' is an exploration of the exceptionally ornamental and theatrical style of art from the Rococo movement. The organic interior curves and the pastel tones of the mythological paintings influenced the mood and overall colour palette used within the collection. I enjoy the intricate detail and sculpting, the gold highlights and the illusion of motion and drama. I have been communicating this through delicate, ornate fabrics using techniques such as beading and hand embroidery as well as combining mixed media processes within the knitted fabrics. My strengths lie within fabric swatch designing, I also have a strong interest in slow making processes, such as crochet and embellishing. I enjoy combining materials and processes together to develop exciting fabrications. I incorporate sustainability within my practice where I can, some of my approaches towards this include using dead stock yarns and incorporating pre-loved materials.
