I started this project by looking at how people shape themselves to be perceived in society, and how the way we think can affect the way we dress. I focused on how some people pad their bodies to look more feminine, and how people might want to take attention away from their figure to look more masculine. This led me to look at the very first drag queens who performed in Victorian times, and how their stories have been erased from society. I found links within the modern day drag padding of today with the Victorian structures that were worn under clothing to completely change the wearers shape. I looked at the idea of masculine and feminine within art and found the perfect example of this to be within marble sculpture which would often show the "ideal" shape of man and woman.
