I have a mixture of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese backgrounds, which used to confuse me regarding my identity. Now I feel more comfortable with it because my blended identity is my identity. I am proud of being unique.
I would love to combine my three cultural backgrounds and express them through my aesthetic lens. Also, I would like to design clothes that would provide solutions to the world. This problem-solving idea comes from my working experience in IT.
To provide an option to slow fashion, I would like people to wear the clothes longer by changing the silhouettes, so I have applied the concept of "detachable pieces" in my final graduate collection – “Oriental Heritage Fusion”. I hope people would wear these clothes longer by playing around with the detachable pieces like draping as they like. I believe this will deliver more fun to the wearers and increase the lifetime of the garments, which could also slow down the fashion cycle.
