Maxime Van de Wiele is a Belgo-British Menswear designer, A Designer for those that aspire to feel content, attractive and complete. Queerness in the finest manner. His Graduate Collection, Mimesis, explores the vulnerability of domesticity, through the heritage of his country, from Chantal Akerman’s 1975 masterpiece ‘Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce 1080 Bruxelles’ to Baudelaire's diaries on his time in the Belgian capital, the Flemish Singeries paintings, the philosophies of the situationist movement to the works of American artist Ross Bleckner. All carefully circling back to each other. Maxime carefully considers the natural extent of cloth when creating and its role for us humans. If sensuality is implied in his design, it will only ever be a suggestion, like a verse in a Pablo Neruda poem. During his time in London, Maxime has worked for the likes of Harris Reed, FEBEN, S.SDaley and Alex Wolfe.
