German/English designer Anna Roggenhofer’s AW22 collection ‘Archetype’ explores the connection between the male figure and ‘the drape’. Inspiration is taken from sculpture, specifically ancient Greek, and the modernist British sculptor Henry Moore. Illustrating the concept of ‘dressing’ through the draped piece of fabric, Anna subverts the traditional masculine rigidity of menswear with more fluid and feminine shapes. The linear pictures created by these drapes are further explored through textile development and print. A theme running throughout the collection is the twist which refers to the tradition of menswear being fastened left over right. This serves to distort the clothing and body further and brings the concept back to the figurative sculptures of henry Moore. Previously Anna has completed various internships including one at the Givenchy for the menswear RTW design team and at Kenzo for menswear pre-collection design team.
