My collection originated with a personal feeling of fear of leaving university and entering regular ‘adult society’. Reminiscing to one’s childhood can become a safe like space where creativity and play was encouraged, two elements I believe are vital to fashion design. Post pandemic, dopamine dressing has become all the range to bring light and joy to the challenging days we are living through. It was important to me from the beginning to create a collection that would brighten up a room and make people smile. My research took a lot of inspiration from my own childhood photographs with my two younger sisters, often playing dress up in brightly coloured mismatching outfits. Additionally, my research has led me to exploring street style from Tokyo Fashion Week because of the great variety of playful and individual styles. The collection features three different prints I designed. Each one is bold, and eye catching and can be mixed and matched together for a more is more aesthetic.
