IMPERFECT? IM PERFECT!

When I was a first year student, I did a group presentation with the theme of imperfect. At that time, it broke the illusion of the image of my trapped perfection especially in fashion industry. Majoring in fashion design and dreaming of becoming a fashion designer, I came to think about this topic again in preparing for the final major project before starting my career in fashion industry. And by selecting the concept of imperfection, I was sure that this project would help me break away from the somewhat confined areas of design and the standard of perfection. I have experimented a variety of material manipulations including laser cutting, fabric natural dyeing and making colour samples in creative way based on ‘wabi-sabi’ concept with deeper understanding and engagement of it. On the 3D stand work step, I am focusing on making asymmetric, deconstructed and layered silhouette of garments, considering the combination of fabrics and my colour palette.
