I am an Irish sustainable designer making all gender workwear, with experience interning at JW Anderson. ‘Rising Tides’ is a gender-inclusive collection inspired by Dutch and British maritime heritage and the looming threat of sea-level rise. Sustainability is central to my work and used technical fabrics like Ventille® for waterproofing without forever chemicals, and repurposed post-consumer waste, inner tubes and old spinnakers to create waterproof textiles and experiments with liquid rubber for further waterproofing. My work dismantles used objects and aims to raise their value. For instance, experiments with linking, allowed me to breathe new life into an old Guernsey fisherman’s jumper using crochet and a hand cranked linker. To fit more bodies, modularity and adjustability were a central focus with oversized trouser shapes equipped with ties and drawstrings. ‘Rising Tides’ symbolizes the need for reactivity and invention where the future and our place within it is uncertain.
