Growing up playing sports that were perceived to be male dominated, this collection explores the breakthrough of women, whilst exploring female muscularity, historical femininity, and the gender power balance. Considering the socially constructed barrier on a feminine aesthetic and taking further inspiration from how women overcame these barriers. Fabric used within this collection are deadstock, there’s the use of the sustainable printing technique, Dye Sublimation, onto recycled polyesters. I further explored circularity and transparency in a live competition set by GFW x Tencel x Mother of Pearl, which I was selected as one of the winners. Taking inspiration from the Tree of Life, my family tree, and a gardener’s grace. I demonstrated ways to encourage closing the loop, discourage the perception of disposable fashion, and produce seasonless clothes designed with longevity and emotional durability. These are all elements that I hope to focus on in my future in the fashion industry.
