Effeminacy comes form Latin effeminates, from the factive prefix ex and femina ‘WOMAN’; it means ‘made feminine, emasculated, weakened. WHY IS PERFORMING FEMINITY SEEN AS WEAK? In ancient Greece the word for effeminate is cinaedus or malakoi; a man “whose most salient feature was a supposedly feminine love of being sexually penetrated by other men.
