I’m a final year Cardiff School of Art & Design Fashion Design student born and raised in the Valleys in South Wales. Interested in conscious design, creating sustainable and timeless garments. Key features in my designs are the use of textiles to claim the cloth; layering free machine embroidery and hand embroidery to create placement patterns making each one of a kind. This collection is inspired by my family heritage and history of the coal mining village of Gilfach Goch, home to my family for countless generations. My great grandfather worked in one of Gilfach Gochs colliery, The Britannic Colliery for most of his life. This inspiration has been carried throughout the collection using many different features, such as heavy durable fabrics denim, corduroy and boiled wool to create layers within each outfit. Each garment has an industrial feel many of which were inspired by historic mining clothing.
