Metamorphosis, the change of the form or nature of a thing or person into a completely different one. Amy Penny is a UK based womenswear designer specialising in digital print and working with sustainable practices. After recently completing BA (Hons) Fashion at Manchester Metropolitan University, Amy wants to pursue the ways in which design can modify the current perception of what a sustainable brand looks like, through conventional and unconventional methods combined. Sustainability is engrained throughout her final year collection, using modular design to re-conceptualise how we use clothing. Transformative garments enable an extended amount of wear due to the increase of potential functions. Zero waste techniques push the boundaries of how as designers we design, considering the mathematics of pattern cutting paired with the aesthetics on a 3-dimensional body. Amy wishes to pursue this further to ensure these techniques become more widely recognised within mainstream industry.
