My concept centres around the idea of slower Sundays, born out of a love of Sundays spent at antique centres and summer walks. Sunday Sunday is a womenswear brand that provides weekend attire for the modern woman living in a modern way. The launch collection draws upon inspiration found in a collection of my Mother’s Sindy doll outfits from the 1970s which I used to play with when visiting my grandmother’s house, as well as a general feeling of nostalgia.
A large aspect of my project is based on redesigning the classic trench coat with added sustainable, retro design elements. I am consistently drawn to vintage or deadstock textiles to inform design-based decisions. My chosen fabrics lead my colour palette for the collection. Features include exaggerated sleeves, dropped shoulders and an internal belt feature that has been engineered to appear at the front and at the back of the garment whilst allowing the volume of the bodice to remain oversized at the sides of the trench coat.
