Nana

Nana was inspired by the book by Emile Zola who created a Parisian prostitute in the late 1800s called Nana. I studied lots of Edwardian and Victorian wear, especially looking at the portraits they took at the time and finding the shapes and fit fascinating. I am immediately drawn to these extreme shapes as they are playful and expressive which is something I like to channel in my colour palette. Colour is a key player when it comes down to my designing. I find that I can often base my initial reaction on designs depending on whether I enjoy the colours and how the interact with each other. I want clothes to make people feel happy and excited when looking or wearing them, so I often design with a mixture of colours and shapes.
