London's Drowning

Location: London, England
University/College: University of Brighton Specialisms: Unisex, Circular Fashion
Unisex designer with a focus on a circular economy. Industry experience from menswear designer Olubiyi Thomas and womenswear brands WED Studios and Susan Fang. “London’s Drowning” is set in a futuristic London where the Thames has flooded and people are forced to navigate through semi-submerged walkways. The garments are designed for wading through water, with a top-heavy silhouette. The silhouette and drape are informed by the traditional gala dress of Newhaven fisherwomen. Whilst details are drawn from marine apparel. Materials for the collections are sourced from post-consumer waste, old tents, damaged wetsuits and seatbelts from scrapped cars. And production waste, PVC offcuts from sail manufacturers, and donated deadstock materials.
