Strap-Line

My collection looks at whole Osprey rucksacks that could no longer be used for their original purpose and therefore end-of-life. Taking inspiration from individual panels of the rucksacks and hardware to inform a final collection of dresses, utilising the straps, hip pockets, clips, drawcords and webbing, creating a womenswear collection to deter away from the initial ideas surrounding heavy duty bags, whilst retaining the original features. ‘Strap-line’ use of contrasting colours throughout the collection takes inspiration from the work of Jean Paul-Goode, influences from Mondrian’s abstract grid-like lines and use of primary colours and Paolina Russo with her approach to transforming a product, negative space and bodice work.
