Lewis Silk is a Womenswear designer based in the UK, his work explores the ways traditional menswear garments can be elevated and modernised using considered textile design and material choice. Knitwear is an important aspect of all design work he creates, mixing traditional techniques and yarns with colours and patterns inspired by photography and the lives experience of everyday objects from mid-century Italy such as advertisements and public spaces. Their graduate collection Banca D’Italia references both the idealised glamour of these experiences with the duality of the more mundane, often overlooked existence that occurred parallel to these moments. Delicate hand embroidery and screen-printing is contrasted with colours and prints extracted from objects such as café table cloths and beach towels.
