Focusing on my hometown of Arlesey, central Bedfordshire. My rural villages beauty is being lost forever. The development of new build houses has overtaken the Natural landscape. Exploring the folk law of my village which has been passed down through generations and was drawn to the idea of fairy circles and what can happen when we start removing these creatures natural habitat. Developing my own textiles, creating a method of hand knotting to make a large textile, along with developing traditional techniques such as smocking. I looked to what the builders are wearing. Inspired by current builders and the workers of the village from 1900 who worked in Arlesey’s brick pits. From the start of my project, I knew I didn’t want to add to the damage that is going on in my village and the world. I made the decision to try and only use deadstock or end of roll fabrics, encouraged to ask my village for help, this allowed me to connect to people around me having conversation about our history.
