Jesse O’Shannon’s collection ‘Rip it Up’ - named after her mum’s fitness column in Men’s World magazine– was Inspired by 1980s burlesque photos of her parents. Damaged cowboy boots are upcycled, reflecting her father’s trademark costume from the Windmill Theatre, where her parents first met. The boot shafts are dissected, then remade into garments using handwork techniques like applique, patchwork and woodcarving. The remaining boots are then mended and donated to the charity ‘Sals Shoes’.
