“A woman is human. She is not better, wiser, stronger, more intelligent, more creative, or more responsible than a man. Likewise, she is never less. Equality is a given. A woman is human.” Vera Nazarian. Filthy Lucre is a fashion graduate collection by Anna Yates. It approaches the socio - political issue of modern feminism. Reflecting on female industrial actions of the 1960’s and 1970’s. The research of various equality issues fed Anna’s fascination of modern feminist history. The bizarre argument of equal pay not being resolved despite more than half a century of women and feminists fighting for fundamental rights. Anna created a collection that represents a strong, independent, feminist yet feminine woman. The Filthy Lucre collection adopted colour, texture and fabric choices for their practicality as well as their meaning and heritage. Extensive research behind every decision created a signature silhouette and colour palette.
